Au revoir!!

It's been a longtime coming but I think it is time this now lonely blog hung up it's boots! I haven't been around to give it much love of late as I haven't felt inspired to do so..........it is sad but I think this just happens with these things. I have been writing here for since July of 2007, 5 years........... a b****y long time I say!

Why hang up the boots you ask well I think I have run out of things to tell you about my everyday life here and that's why I started this blog. After nearly six years in Noumea our life is fairly routine  school, work , stuff.  My interests have changed over the lifetime of this blog and I feel it isn't going to suit the new stuff I have going on. I hear you all cry out that you want to know about the new stuff and you can I am not giving up blogging altogether just moving to another place in the internet universe(all details at end of post) to share all this new great stuff. I hope the new venture will be a bit more arty crafty & dolly orientated. I do have another blog about our travels here that has been even more neglected than No life but hopefully this can pick up the fun outdoory stuff we do in the future.

Ok I am not one for long goodbyes as I usually start crying..........I have enjoyed what I have done with No life without wife but my dear you are on your way to blogging heaven(is there one??) it has been fun but it is time. I bid you au revoir!!

Long time between posts............

It's been a very long time between posts here at No life without wife!! I can't say I haven't been doing lots of stuff because I have but time doesn't seem to have allowed me to blog about it but today I have found a few moments to pop up some photos that happily shows some of the past few weeks.

 

there has been loads of rain to keep us indoors.....today is no different...........

and while it has been raining I have been making crowns for my Blythe girls and some for  my little shoppe............

 

and we went out exploring over Easter.......new beach/camping hideaway.........

and yesterday I spent the afternoon at the hairdresser getting rid of all my grey hair! How nice that was walking out looking all refreshed.

So there you have it a little bit of what has been happening. Hopefully everyone is having a lovely Wednesday afternoon and doing what they want to do!!

It's raining..............

After spending this morning running around getting new tyres for the car and then dealing with driving around in absolutely terrible weather I am now going to sit down have a cup of tea and then sort out my house that always seems to be in a shambles!!

Preparations.............

The talk of Easter has been in the house so the crochet hook has been out in prepartion for it. I have been making many little bunnies to sell, to gift away and to give to my kids. They are fun and super easy to make. Many free patterns can be found on the internet if you are interested in making some.........a little searching goes a long way!!

I am thanking god it is Friday in our neck of the woods, we have had a very up & down week. Hubby is in Spain, we have all been a little grumpy and tired but the weekend is near so I hope we can do some exciting, relaxing things to cheer us all up.

Not been doing much but thought I should spruce up my blog.........

It's all there in the post title for you! I am thinking if there is nothing new to read on my blog it should still look pretty. I shouldn't make it sound like I haven't been doing anything at all because I have but I should make it clear I should be doing other things than the things I have been doing!! Confused by all this all I can say is my husband should never have given me an iphone!!

hot hot hot............

It has been so hot here lately that we are all roasting the poor kids at school and me here at home. I am lucky though I can at least have a bit of down time here inbetween dropping/picking kids up from school and activities & doing the general household chores. In that said downtime I have been doing a bit of crocheting for my shop. I must admit working with wool in the heat isn't much fun either but I haven't got the energy to get the sewing machine out and sew so it is on the couch under the fan for me. Speaking of this I can hear a cold drink and the fan calling my name as I write!! Till next time:)

Feb's first post..............

First post for the year and it's all the way in Febuary!! I have good reason for this and it is that we weren't here for any of January. Myself and the kids had a big break back in my hometown of Melbourne. We had such a good time catching up with my family and all our friends. Many a day was spent talking and finding out how everybodies life have changed over the past 2 years. Yes it had been that long since we had been home obviously I have spoken to people in that time but you don't seem to get all the info that way. Anyway all are good and Melbourne put on it's usual extremes of weather. I was either bloody hot or too bloody cold!!

While there we also had time to fit in many shopping trips...........so much to see and buy! Typo was discovered and many cute bits & pieces found an example is the above printed ribbon. We are now unpacked and if it wasn't for all the stuff we need to find new homes for I wouldn't have thought we had been on holidays at all. It all seems like a distant memory.

Now for what is happening here!! Kids are slowly getting themselves ready for the return of school next week and I  am trying to get my head around being back in this space and working out what to do with it. Last year lacked a little something to say the least, I either need to get a bit more commited to it or give it away but I am afraid that is a post for another day as a nice cold drink is calling my name!!

We have opened all our presents, eaten a lovely Christmas lunch so now it is off to have a big afternoon nap!! I hope everyone is having a lovely day and enjoying themselves as much as I am. Merry Christmas to all:)

The gingerbread house.........

 Well we did it!! We had a few free moments this week and went through the whole process of making our very first gingerbread house. Don't look to closely as you will see the big gaping holes where it doesn't quite fit together properly but isn't that why we make so much royal icing to be able to fill any holes that need it. I must admit as tricky as it was we had a fun time making it. Juliette did all the piping, I did the construction and Django did the decorating and eating of leftover treats!

 

 

We even found ourselves a little snowman for our front yard. We are going to start eating it tonight but I think it will be sad seeing all that work and beauty come crumbling down. Oh well what the good of making something so tasty if you can't eat it!!

Blue!!

We are one week into our 2 month long holidays(gasp)!! Last week was way too busy for my liking running around here there and everywhere for the kids, for Xmas get togethers and the like. This week has started off much more slowly(phew!!) and a picnic was had at the beach. It was a bit too windy for swimming but there was still a lot of rolling/running around to be done. We are very lucky to live not 5 minutes walk to the beach and my husband literally works across the road. I hope we get a few more of these in in the next couple of weeks before we head back to Melbourne for a month. I doubt I will be seeing the water too much while there!!

P.S I haven't forgotten about my giveaway just haven't had time to organise it but I promise I will:)

Gingerbread houses are oh so cute and they are popping up everywhere I look at the moment, obviously so as it is nearly Christmas!! I have never ever attempted to make one but seeing all these sweet creations is getting me almost excited enough to try. Just look at the pictures above and all those decorations and varieties of houses you can do. I may have to start off with something a little simpler then those found on flickr but it certainly has given me some ideas. 

A request for help is needed for this to take place though. Some of you may have some tried & true recipes & instructions or tips & tricks that work. Please let me know otherwise I will seek the help of the almighty internet!! Wish me luck:)

P.S This is post 600 but not the giveaway one I will come back in the next few days with the info and instructions.

Beads & stuff..........

It's been a quiet week around here as I just havn't had the time to come and post. We are leading up the the end of the school/dance year and the concerts are happening. Driving around to rehearsals this week has keep me busy on the roads and not in the crafting space even though I did spent a few stolen moments making some more Xmas decorations. I had my bead box out which always makes for a lovely photo with all that colour and glitter. One dance concert is on tonight so I should be off getting everybody feed, made up and organised rather than sitting on the computer so that is what I will do.

Oh and another thing I am near to my 600th post so I will get my thinking cap on for a giveaway prize to celebrate:) Stay tuned!!

Made it Monday..........

Some Christmas inspired hats as that season is on the horizon. It is a tad warm here for my girls to wear such hats but who cares if they look so cute!!

P.S the dead rat smell was a dead rat that had died under the cupboards. The husband was very good and worked out how to get it out before we all suffocated from it. God it is an awful smell:(

Me...........

There I am with my wares and at the end of our little sale. My table looks a little less full which is always a good sign that it was a success. Things sold that I wasn't really expecting to sell and then others were left behind that you think are the winners. You never can tell what people will spot and want but aside from that it is always nice that people like what they see and know you have created it with your hands.

Oh well now it is back to normal world of cooking and cleaning. We have a dead rat smell that I must contend with this morning.........wish me luck!!!

Decorations.........

Last photo of goodies for tomorrows sale I promise. It is all for the benefit of the local peoples who may be thinking of coming along. See what you can get pretty felt Christmas ornaments for your tree or to decorate gifts or for whatever you please.

It has been a busy few weeks of sewing and stuffing so I may take a break for a few days and get the house tidy it has been a bit neglected. Then get back into making anything more I need for Xmas gifts for all my lucky family & friends!!
