Our camp spot for the weekend was a black sand beach. Very different to the normal stuff. So much stickier and so awfully hot when the sun is beating down on it.

2/30

Most days of the week my husband comes home for lunch. It is one of those European customs that has traveled to this pacific isle that I love. Everything closing up for lunch. On most of these days we have a coffee before he goes back. When we are sitting drinking it I usually ask what he has planned for the rest of the afternoon. Sometimes I get an answer sometimes not but often I am thinking of what I am going to do that afternoon. A nice few hours before mayhem sets in.

30 days of everything.....................

Saw this post over at Mikes today who spied it at Soulemama. Sounds like a nice challenge to look for the usual or unusual things that go on from day to day. I must admit some days just seem to flow into the next without me really seeing what is going on. This might be a nice way to stop and look into some of the everything that makes up some of my everyday life. Could be exciting could be darn boring aswell. You will just have to wait and see!

view out my bedroom window
Day: 1 This is what I see when I open the shutters each morning. The sky is almost always blue and the trees are always green. The contrast between the colours always so distinct. The trellis is not so nice but I have gotten pasted looking at that and my eyes tend to drift to the sky automatically.

The desire to be cool .........................

Why is it that I never have the right thing in my wardrobe to wear in really hot weather. It is still so hot here and I have just about tried every combination of every garment in that said wardrobe and nothing is right. I just think in hot weather anything but your bathers will make you uncomfortable but I am going to try and rectify this problem. Hopefully! Today I printed off a nice simple crossover top pattern from burdastyle.com which I am going to lengthen, make it up in a nice light cotton and voila a comfortable dress. The name of the pattern is Desira. The funny thing about printing off these patterns is they are on A4 paper so you have to put them all together like a jigsaw puzzle. So tonight when the kids are finally in bed I am going to put all 26 pieces of A4 together, cut the pattern out then go tomorrow and find some fabric and whip one up.
Wish me luck and get on my case if you haven't seen one finished in the next couple of days. Hold on I probably shouldn't get so enthusiastic about this project because it will still be to hot to do anything. No,no,no I need these dresses!!
P.S I first saw this top over here.

Hot weather.......................

Juliette's butterfly collage.
It has been very hot here the last few weeks and we are at the point of not knowing what to do with ourselves other than going to the beach all day. It's too hot to do any crafting, I can only be bothered tidying the house a little bit so it is in a state bordering on nearly really messy and I can't be fagged cooking a proper meal. All I feel like doing is sitting and reading. I can tell you the kids are not very impressed with that. What to do!! When in doubt pull out some glue, a bit of scrap paper and voila! You can do collageing (not sure if that is a word) Doesn't take much energy, you can sit in the one spot and at the end of it everybody is happy. I haven't neglected the kids, they have achieved something other than lounging around watching tv.
After all that thinking and typing I need a swim to cool down!!!!!

Out with the old...........................

Out with the old..........

Our 2007 ended with Juliette finally losing her first baby tooth which she has been waiting so long for. She has been whining on about some of her friends teeth having already fallen out and why hasn't it happened to me? I keep telling her it will all come in good time and look I was right. Her younger brother, by one minute, is still quite happy to have all his teeth intact. I have told her that her new years resolution is to brush her teeth twice a day from now on. She has no idea what a new years resolution is I don't know why I even said it!

And in with the new.....................

We have a new addition to our family to start off 2008. His name is 'Moustache'. The kids and I have had conversations about guinea pigs many times and I had told them my younger brother had them as pets. I always thought about getting one for the kids as they are very docile and cute creatures even if they tend to be a bit frightened at times. True to their nature Moustache is a we bit scared of us.But slowly, slowly he will settle into our family just like we will all settle into the new year ahead. I have made no resolutions this year because I never keep them. I would like this year to go on as smoothly as last year did (we had a good one) but maybe with just a bit more of me doing a bit more of what I want to do. Sewing and crafting and maybe taking it out into my new community a bit more.
Anyway I hope everybody had a wonderful New Years eve and that the year ahead holds a bit of what they want.
