Five Faves!

I am playing along with Pip this week with my five faves!

1. My other half arrived home this morning from 12 days away (but he has come home very ill indeed)

2. We went to see Alice in Wonderland yesterday....I loved it even in French!

3. Visiting a new found blog.....a bit of pilli pilli

4. Finding out you can do a whole heap of new things with your blog.

5. Waiting for April 1st to come around to see if I have been lucky in a lottery to get one of these.

That is all there is, it isn't very much but enough for me.

Weekend reading...........

This is far to early to be blogging but seen as I am up, showered, the kids are feed and happily playing. I have a cup of tea in hand I am going to show you my reading material for the weekend. I finally succumbed to buying one of these fabulous Japanese books that I have seen all around blogland. I bought it from Pompadour24 and I can't say how quick her service was. Here in Noumea I usually have to wait weeks before things arrive but not with this book........5 days was all it took. I am impressed the postal services stars must have all been aligned!
Anyway I am going to look through the book and see what I will make first. I may even get the pattern cut out and the fabric on the table.

Happy weekend crafting to all whatever it may be!

Weekend crafting...........

It happened again this crafting thing on the weekend! The girls got a new dresses made from this tutorial @ we play with dolls. Very easy, very sweet with a little added embellishment so they didn't look quite so twinish.

If it happens 3 times in a row it means I should probably stop and spend more time with my family. Let me know if you have been crafty this weekend.....I would love to see it.

Saturday am............

This morning we went on a little adventure into Centre Ville. We don't go in much but today there was a little get together going on. The small Chilean community here was having a fundraiser for the earthquake victims.

We had a wander around......

looked at the lady on the fountain........

ate chilean donuts..........

and generally just hung around. It was nice to see some dancing, taste some goodies and get a feel for a place that is so different to here. I hope our little contribution goes a little way to helping somebody.

Monday art............

I find bits of installation art all over the house at different times, in different places. This morning was the same as any other morning but when I got back from taking the kids to school I discovered this in the bathroom. Two toothbrushes and a piece of packaging. My girl is very clever I thought to myself and I will leave it there to show her dad when he comes home for lunch. I am also wondering what she would name it if she had too. I will ask her when she gets home.

A wee rabbit.............

I made this today....from pattern to finished product in a few hours. It isn't very complicated but still it was done and this does lead me on to ask you all a question about weekend crafting......Do you get things finished faster on weekends than you would during the week? I have all the time in my week, apart from when the whole family is home for lunch, to do what I want to do but I never seem to get a whole lot completed. I always think I have other things to do like the washing or the cleaning or the organising of meals. All that seems to hinder the creative flow then a Saturday shows up and wham I can do it. Is it because everybody else is lolling about not duing much and I feel I can do what I please and not the household chores. I would like to know if there is anybody else out there that agrees with me or you all just think I am crazy and should just think that everyday is a Saturday.

Let me know!

My creative space.........

I was lying in bed on Tuesday evening thinking these girl so I got my jobs finished first thing Wednesday morning and put thread to material. I'm not sure what I will do with them but I was thinking brooches. Today I have more thoughts in mind to sew then I will move on to the next step of fancying them all up. 10 odd buttons..................

Sending out mail, recieving mail is always nice isn't it? Over the past few months I have become a little addicted to checking in on Swapbot. I don't know if you know the site but it is all about swaps, all kinds of swaps, you name it they swap it. I check in every now and again to see what is happening and see if there is something I may be able to do. I have participated in 2 swaps so far, nothing to hard nor complicated. The little parcel I sent of yesterday was a mix of 10 odd buttons.I liked the idea of this one as it isn't to tricky for a crafter to find 10 odd buttons is it? Now I will be waiting patiently see what arrives in my mailbox.

My creative space.........

I haven't been in this space for quite a while. There is 2 reasons for this the 1st being I haven't felt like it. The 2nd is I have had other things to do, a few jobs around the house that I had been putting off and putting off but now I have slowly knocked a few off the list I can look at the creative space again. I picked up something this week that has been sitting for a long time waiting to be finished. I am not sure why I left Django's quilt for so long as it took me not more than an hour to add some simple machine quilting on it. I plan to put the binding on by the end of the day and then spend the next day or so doing the handstitiching and he should have it on his bed by the weekend. Hooray!!

Just because I haven't been in my creative doesn't mean I haven't been checking up on what has been going on in other peoples space.

The weekend.........

Our weekend passed with rain & sunshine & eating out & some sitting around relaxin'. Always a nice combination for me........a bit of doin' & a bit of sittin'.The weekend started with a visit to a small art exhibition on Friday night. The kids did an art class when we got back to Noumea this year and this was the fruits of their labour. The classes revolved around theirs hands not just what they could do with their hands but decorating copies of their hands.

Their little expo coincided with a much grander expo from a local artist Miriam Schwamm.....she had taken a picture everyday for a year of her hand with something written on it. I think the kids liked that there work was up on the wall with a much bigger artist than themselves but I think what they liked more was running around the yard of the Centre D'art playing cache-cache.

P.S I meant to add I finished this book over the weekend and I really liked it. I didn't want it to end, I wanted to read more letters between all those people.
