Fun Fridays.............

Our week of school vacances is drawing to a close and boy has it been a busy week. Usually we chill out and not do too much as the kids get up for school so early here it is a good time to go slow and re-charge the batteries but not this holidays!!! Juliette did a dance stage(holiday program) in the am, the 2 of them had a gazillion swim lessons( these haven't finished yet), we went for morning tea, saw a movie and even went to see an amatuer production of 'The Mikado' last night. So to finish off what was a rather hectic week we had a nice muck around at the pool after lessons this afternoon even I got in and had a cool off. I must admit it was nice, it would have been even better if I was floating around on a lilo and sipping a cocktail!!

Fun sewing this Friday...............some cute Middie dresses in the shop.

 

Myself, a girlfriend and our kids are heading out of town for the weekend. Our husbands are both away and we need away from the house time. We are just going to some bungalows an hour away but there is a pool and a restaurant which means easy kids entertaining and no cooking involved.........fantastic!!!

Friday mornings activities............catching up for a birthday coffee...........not having coffee but a fine Italien chocolate frappe..............new cafe opened up that serves fine Italien hot chocolate as well.............you know the kind you have to drink with a spoon!

Unfocused Friday.............

It has been raining all day here and I have been a bit lost with what to do with myself. I have things I should be doing like housework but I don't want to do that! So in between deciding what I really want to do I prepared dinner, admired my mini moo cards that arrived yesterday and messed around with some ideas I have had floating around my head. There is a festival here in October and fellow artist/friend has asked me to share a stall with here so that's what all the thinking has been for.
I hope somebody has had a bit more focused day than me, please let me now I would be interested to see what you have done..

Friday........

Martine has got herself a new dress-finally. It was made over our very rainy Easter weekend when we couldn't do much but inside activities. At Christmas time I had promised her she would have a new wardrobe and it has failed to materialise.

I have plans to make her a shawl to go with her dress but need to get some nice crochet cotton to do it with. Our weather is changing here and getting a bit cooler but it never gets really cold so wool might be a bit heavy. I also had a bit of a spending spree this morning and ordered her some fabulous cowboy boots and socks from This is Blythe. I can't wait till they arrive and she can be all sassyed up. I don't think this is a word but you all know what I mean.

It's been a fairly nice Friday so far. I have been doing some more creating with the fabric and buttons from yesterday. Later on I am taking the kids to an early easter egg hunt then this evening I am off out with some girls for a nice meal. What more could I ask for an afternoon of chocolate then some good French tucker.

I am heading over to google reader now and check what is happening in blogland then I am going to sit and contemplate what I should do with the above buckle.
Any suggestions?

Slack/love Friday...........

Today I am going to re-name my love Friday post to slack Friday as nothing much has happened so far and I have nothing planned for the rest of the day. I'm just going to be checkin' in on what everybody else is doin' and I thought I would put some links to a few new people I have found lately and am enjoying very much.

I am so loving this Friday as I had a request by my husband to make him a fish softie. It's for a work thing and it's meant to be a tuna. He turned out kinda cute don't ya think. I put the two pictures up to show he has odd googley eyes. I couldn't find two buttons the same.

What has happened so far to make it a fabulous Friday-

We woke up with the sun shining no more rain.
The family had a picnic lunch on the beach.
I have nearly finished the wall hanging/doll quilt for a birthday party tomorrow. It has taken a few detours since it's beginning last weekend.

What are we going to do to finish off this Friday-

We are heading off to the social club at the dear husbands work for a cold beer. A great way to finish off the week.

I'm back! There has been a bit of a lull in blogging around here not sure quite why maybe nothing to say or show, to hot, other things always seem to get in the way. Not today though things got finished this week and it is raining today and cooled everything down considerably so moods are good. I got baking this morning with all those black bananas. A favourite cake recipe and it will be eaten when everybody is home for lunch.

Later this afternoon I am going to send of the art cards to the other side of the world for the swap I signed the kids up for. They are now going to be waiting patiently for the returns. I am very happy with what they came up with. Colourful and diverse.

Love Fridays...........

Like the rest of the week our lovely Friday was spent at the beach. It was another horribly hot day here and we are not ungrateful that we live so close to the beach to be able to go on a whim. Myself and the kids feel like we are ticking off days until school begins again next week. Over 2 months of vacation is wearing us all a bit thin but I'm sure a week after la rentree we will want the holidays back. NO, no, no only joking! My next Friday will be filled (hopefully) with different lovely things other than entertaining children.

I am checking in to let you all know that I have missed the last two Love Fridays post's. Not that I haven't thought about them on those particular days. What has been happening is that each Friday has come around and I haven't really got anything exciting to tell so I think that I will put up something later but later comes around at about 11pm. The day has come and gone we have done some things in the end but I just cannot be bothered to do a post. Anyway I am posting now with not much to tell you other than I really liked the colour of our sky this evening and thought you all should see it. When it has been raining heavily during the day here and the clouds break at sunset the sky goes a really weird shade of orange. It is a little bit freaky.

It's early, it's overcast and rainy, I have been for my walk and I'm not sure what else is going to happen on this particular Friday. I think we may just take it as it comes. A little bit of this a little bit of that. The kids are happy wandering about the house making up stories involving all the mythical creatures, mermaids, pegasus, fairies, unicorns. If anything inspiring comes about here I will come back and share it with you but until then happy Friday to you all.

This week has been a bit up and down one. Sometimes feeling a bit cranky sometimes feeling very happy. Not quite sure what was going on but it was just one of those weeks. Today I got out of bed with a different outlook on the day. I needed to be less grumpy with the kids, smile a bit more and so on and it worked. We had a good day together. A bit of shopping in the morning, a lunch date with dad at their favourite restaurant, a swim in the afternoon. All went great. Then to top it all off Django had a plan hatched with his dad to go off after work for some secret boys business. He had it in his mind that he needed to buy me something to cheer me up, with his own pocket money no less, so they went to one of our favourite shops and bought me some new glasses. Special ones to put our very special bird swizzel sticks in. Boy did my heart melt when he walked in with his parcel. So this Friday did indeed end up lovely with a nice looking/tasteing drink.

There isn't much going on around here this Friday. We are one week in on our 2 months break here in Noumea. Talk about a super summer holiday. We have had a week of mixed emotions. Kids tired from a year of school, lots of catch-ups because friends are leaving this island for Christmas's elswhere and just too much Christmas excitement going on. There has been a few tears, some ranting and raving(me) and some sprouting that Santa will not be visiting this house if that kind of behavior continues. Today, though I am happy to say we have had a rest morning with some singing, dancing, movie watching and aren't we all a bit happier. I have even had a chance to pull out my fabric(above) for my apron that I itend to make for Christmas day. If the day continues as is I might even get to get to finish it.

On that note I hope everybody else has a good Friday. I am going to go off now and check up on some other girls Fridays.

Love Friday & baking.........

It's happened again. It's Friday and I have been baking for weekend events and school endings. Teachers got cookies this year baked with the help of the kids and I made lemon slice only not made with lemons but limes. It's very hard to find lemons here. I will admit that the limes are good in the slice they make it far more tangy. I know this because I have done a taste test already. It's good!!
The slice is to be taken camping to have with cups of tea while which watching children run around to their hearts content.

Love Fridays=baking............

I have found that there has been a bit of a pattern forming over the last few Fridays and that is Fridays = baking and this one see's nothing different. We have more social events over the weekend and they all need a little homemade goodness. This afternoons effort created more chocolate balls, these are good for big crowds they make many. The next thing to come from the mixing bowl was Juliette's all time favourite meringues. As you may well have worked out the meringues are for the kid's Christmas do tomorrow. Did the 100's & 1000's give that away!

I hope the weekend is relaxing or productive whichever you want it to be. I wouldn't mind going where this blogger will be off too. I do love a good sale.

I know what you are thinking "What the hell has she got in that pot it looks like dog food". Well today I am having a bit of a baking day and I'm trying something new. Rockyroad! I can't remember ever having made it before so I did the search and found a couple of recipes that sounded interesting. One is Nigella's. I followed it excactly up until the biscuits I substituted maltesers for the biscuits. I will let you know what it has turned out like later on this evening. The baking being done today has a purpose and that is that I'm holding a girls night tonight. It happens every now and then here when a husband is away. Well we use that as the excuse I think mostly we just like to get together. So leading up to having some bubbles and roackyroad tonight I will be finishing up tidying the house. There is always good and bad with these thing but only a few hours to go before we hear the pop of those corks.

I have had a reasonably busy morning, french lesson's, visit to the market, feeding the masses and finding out I am a winner of a giveaway I entered. This particular one was from Prints Charming. I didn't mean for my Friday to be busy like this, usually it is the one day of the week I don't have to run around like a mad women doing stuff. Oh well sometimes the routine changes. My afternoon though is going to be spent going to the blogs of all the lovely people who have visited/discovered me in the last few days. I've got the cup of tea ready and I have two hours before I picks the kids up from school, so here I go.
