New mag.........
My wait it over. The new Marie Claire Idees is out and once again there is some fabulous cute and quirky stuff in this edition. There is lashing of pink and flowers, there is an article devoted to chickens hence the embroidered apron and there is another totally devoted to the humble cabbage. Bouquets, embroidery, bowls you name it they have located it and photographed it. The first image in the set is of a fantastic crocheted bag that is a flowery cabbage. It is so gorgeous. I am determined that I am going to learn to read these patterns so I can make some of this stuff. I have a friend here who is teaching herself to crochet so I am going to steal her french crochet book and then translate the stitches and then voila I should be able to do it.
On another note I should learn to make the delicious cakes that always seem to show up in the magazine shots. No maybe not. I think I will just leave that up to the locals because I do so like hanging around the patisseries, checking out what to try next and also they are so good at it.

Hoot,hoot......
Look what I just picked up from the post office. How very, very exciting. Now I am going to sit down and rip it open and see what is inside. I heard there was the first Brown owl get together last night. I can't wait to hear about the stuff that went on in a room full of nifty crafter's. I will be doing the rounds of all the local melbourne gals blogs to find out.

Farewells........
Yesterday we said farewell to some dear friends and it was sad. They are heading off on a fab new adventure in Qatar. This is the first off three farewells we have to do over the next few months. It's going to be a sad time for all concerned but they tell me this is what happens here. You arrive, you make really good friends, then they up and leave to go and experience other interesting stuff. I know it will be us in a few years(maybe) but that doesn't make it any easier. These friends almost become like family because you are here without the people from home. You see them quite regularly for kids catch ups or coffee or whatever really. All this people moving thing just means that I have to go out and find new friends but they will never be the same as the ones that have just left.
On a happier note our going away gifts for 3 of the 4 in the family were homemade goodies. For the kids I got each of my kids to draw up a character and I made them up. Juliette drew the above for Gabby and below Django drew the lower one for Remy. Hopefully when they look at them later we will come to mind.
I made Brenda a scarf, which she won't need in Qatar but they are spending a bit of time back in Canada before they head off. I forgot to put the image up so I will do that next post.
Anyway all I should say now is- Farewll and good luck Brenda & co.

Baby showers.........
We(kids and I) went to a small baby shower yesterday for a friend who is so over being pregnant in the heat here. We all thought that talk about the impending birth and all the ways to bring on labour may have started the process but alas no. Today she is still suffering but you can see from what I have made that the baby is a girl. So she got a wee fairy and some fancy bibs. The first in the bib making thing. I didn't mind it so I am going to try making some more. While I had my machine out I also made myself a little roll to put stuff in. The stuff that is going in is my crochet hooks that are scattered all over the shop and my sewing needles that also all seem to be in separate places. Now they are all together easily found.
The kids are back at school after two months holiday. Yipeee!!! What am I going to do with all this time on my hands. Lets see.............

More camping....
We have been off camping for a few days. A little mini-break before the kids go back to school. Yes it is finally here....over two months of holidays have passed and aren't we all ready for the return, even the kids are eager to go back and they are aware that they still don't understand very much of the language. I think boredom has set in.
Anyway while I was away I had some time to sit under a tree and continue to crochet this scarf. I have no need for this said item in our climate but I was eager to do some crochet and a friend, that I have made here, is leaving to go back to Canada and I have seized the opportunity and I also wanted to try this style of crochet called 'Tunisian crochet'. This particular stitch needed a much bigger hook and thinner wool but this was the largest hook and nicest wool I could find in our very lean haberdashery stores here. It has done the job and I quite like how it has turned out but I will tell you one thing crocheting/knitting is really a cold weather craft maybe next we will move to a climate that I can do more of it!

Pay it forward.....part 2
Sure nobody would like to join in this. I still have a couple of openings.....3 in fact!! If nobody gets back to me I am going to just keep going on about it every chance I get until somebody wants to play.
What it's all about
Pay it forward,
randomn niceness to people I don't know
30/30
I have finally made it to the end. This last post has taken me a while to do I know but I have been feeling a lack of energy and motivation in the last few days and not really known how to finish up this little exercise. I have had fun looking around at what happens at our place and the new things we have taken up doing in this new home of ours. I think you often get to used to just whizzing past stuff so it was nice to slow down some. I hope others enjoyed looking at a little slice of our lives, I know I have enjoyed looking at all the other gals that joined in the 30 days of everything.
Now what's next!!

Pay it forward.....
The other day I was doing my usual surfing of the blogs and I was reading on cats and quilts that she had one more opening for a recipient of her craft in the "pay it forward" exchange that is going around so I jumped on. I have read about it on lots of other blogs over my time of browsing and think it is such a fabulous idea.
Now the rules are as follows-I will send a handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment here requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.
And there you go I do solemnly swear I will do this for anybody who would like something made by me. I know I haven't had a great deal of crafty stuff up on this blog but that's not to say I don't do it.
So go on give it a go!
