hot hot hot............

It has been so hot here lately that we are all roasting the poor kids at school and me here at home. I am lucky though I can at least have a bit of down time here inbetween dropping/picking kids up from school and activities & doing the general household chores. In that said downtime I have been doing a bit of crocheting for my shop. I must admit working with wool in the heat isn't much fun either but I haven't got the energy to get the sewing machine out and sew so it is on the couch under the fan for me. Speaking of this I can hear a cold drink and the fan calling my name as I write!! Till next time:)

Rainbows seem to be the flavour of the month here probably because we are having so much rain we are seeing lots of them when it decides to clear alittle. Some time for rainbow inspired crochet when it is raining too.

Camping...............

 

We are back from a week of camping which saw lots of rain, wind and sun which was most needed after the rain at the beginning of our week. We didn't do a whole lot activity wise but we did spend a whole lot of time eating, talking, resting, coffee drinking, exploring,

swimming-the water was a bit nippy but still swimable and watching a magnificent sunset after the rain.

We had a lovely time but we are back now with a mountain of washing to be done, kids to get ready for school tomorrow and a few things to catch up on in my google reader(you girls are very prolific with your blog posts). I also have a few crafty things to get ready for an adventure that I am going on in a couple of weeks.

As you can see here some crafting was done in the week away and the craft of choice was crochet. It is one of those things that can be done anywhere. It is even bettter if you have a superb view to look up to every now and again.

Bon Dimanche everybody I will be spending most of it with my buddy the washing machine!

What else can you do when your daughter is sick on the couch and wants company but  crochet another hat. I think I have made 5 now. It really is too hot here to crochet but I have bee in my bonnet about doing it. So I do it!!!

A tin and a book................

My husband has just come back from a trip away. He needed to pass through our home town of Melbourne and while he was there he picked up a few things my mum had for me. She knows I like a tin so she sent me one of those and I had asked her a while back if she had any good learn to crochet books in her stash. I knew there wasn't going to be a no answer there. I know the basics of crocheting but I wanted to learn a few more complicated stitches and this book has it all. Lacy, chevron and a multitude of granny squares.
I was thinking what I could put in my tin and I think I may just fill it up with granny squares that I learn to make from my new book. Also if I have it sitting next to me on my little table in the lounge that I keep all my craft bits on I will think of my mum everytime I look at it.

P.s these things have been on a bit of a journey. They came from Melbourne then went to Sulawesi and now they are in Noumea. I wonder where they will go next!

Nothing fancy but very sweet!

On my desk.........

Not much happenin' on my desk this week. No crafting, no sewing not even any thinking of crafting. I had a bit of an overload of stuff as soon as I got back from my holiday so I think the brain is on a bit of a go slow. I do have though a pamphlet for the local yoga centre and some crochet hooks. I have never, ever in my life tried yoga and I did for the first time this morning. I quite liked it considering I only understood about half of what the teacher was going on about. That includes both the language and the exercises. I did find out half way through the class he could speak English but the purpose of this exercise is to be exposed to more of the language and to get a bit more healthy. Let's see how I feel in the morning about it. Sore limbs and all.

The crochet hooks are some large sizes one I picked up at Spotlight. I have seen a few patterns that call for size 10 and up. Now there is no excuses for not doing them. I am going to search my limited wool supply and see what I can do with them.

More camping....

We have been off camping for a few days. A little mini-break before the kids go back to school. Yes it is finally here....over two months of holidays have passed and aren't we all ready for the return, even the kids are eager to go back and they are aware that they still don't understand very much of the language. I think boredom has set in.

Anyway while I was away I had some time to sit under a tree and continue to crochet this scarf. I have no need for this said item in our climate but I was eager to do some crochet and a friend, that I have made here, is leaving to go back to Canada and I have seized the opportunity and I also wanted to try this style of crochet called 'Tunisian crochet'. This particular stitch needed a much bigger hook and thinner wool but this was the largest hook and nicest wool I could find in our very lean haberdashery stores here. It has done the job and I quite like how it has turned out but I will tell you one thing crocheting/knitting is really a cold weather craft maybe next we will move to a climate that I can do more of it!
