I have had the print gocco out again this week. I figured I needed to to a bit more experimenting.
So I made some cards. I just drew up a design, wanted to try the two colour thing and went for it. I still haven't quite worked out the quantity of paint thing. I go along printing and they are quite even and then I start to see patches where the paint is thinning out. I think this part of it is going to be a learn as I go.
The above picture is looking through the screen. I do love looking through the screen into the light.
The production line.
The finished product. I now need some reasons to send out a whole stack of cards.

rant, rant, rant.......
This space today is going to be used for complaining... but don't worry it won't go on for long. I'm just going to rant about the good intentions that I had but the internet service we have here on this island is s***t to say the least. So it all failed. I wanted to have a go at this because I love the idea of looking at other peoples stuff and I don't mind people looking at my stuff but flickr just wasn't having any part of me uploading photos so after a few attempts I spat the dummy and walked away. Now I am back just to talk about it. I think the internet service here all depends on the weather. It is blowing fairly wildly here today and don't they say that wind can have strange effects on people. I wonder if the same goes for the internet!
I may come back later when I have calmed down and had a cuppa tea.

Friday morn........
The kids are at the end of a weeks break and this morning they decided they wanted to go to work for a few hours with their dad. 'Sounds good to me' I said. So my morning has consisted of going back to bend when they left and finishing my book. A good period novel. I love them! Doing a wee bit of tidy up, not too much because it won't stay that way for long, and catching up on a few things at the computer with tea and toast. What a nice morning I have had. Now I am off for a walk to pick them up.
Happy Friday to all whatever you are doing.

No.7.......
So much has been happening around here but with 7th birthday celebrations going on for days I really haven't had much time to fill you all in. There has been cakes to be baked and eaten, dances to dance, presents to open and relatives to look after. So I am going to leave you with just a couple of photos of the birthday kids doing what birthday kids do best-blowin' out candles and fill you in on all the other stuff another day when there aren't meals to be prepared for the gang and I'm not dealing with overly tired, overly present spoiled children!

On my desk.........
There is an on and off my desk this week.
Firstly off my desk is the handmade goody bags for the upcoming party. Hope those kids appreciate what has gone into them. By that I just don't mean the enclosed goods!
And on my desk is the start of the pink party dress. All tulle and ribbons and girly. You can also see a very cute guetermann cotton tin I found at one of the supermarkets here and the corner of a Donna Hay kids food magazine. Looking for inspiration for party food.
Anybody have any not so complicated but good tasting party food ideas?

Lazy Sundays...........
I was having a grumble earlier on in the week about it not being overly warm here at the moment but today was back to normal. So the morning was spent at the beach.
One kid thought having a kayak on his own would be fun! So did the girls for that matter.
La La La.........
His dad didn't think it was quite so fun having to rescue him before it was to late.

Goody bags.......
I tell you sometimes it is so hard to find the simplest of things on this island. I have been in search of a good goody bags for the kids upcoming party. Do you think I can find anything remotely interesting. I don't want to use the usual branded stuff or crappy plastic for that matter so I went in search of paper lunch bags to do a bit of goccoing on. I had in mind to use the same design as I had put on their invitations. I knew it would be hard before I even set out. All the kids/parents here go to canteen/restaurants or home for lunch. Nobody carries a lunch bag. So not chic and so I failed on this. But on the way home I had an idea. Print on calico! Why didn't I think of this before. So I went straight home made a big mess on the kitchen table, learnt some new things about my print gocco and voila! The starts of some fabulous goody bags.

On my desk.........
On my desk today sees a finished pair of little shoes. I have been wanting to try and make a pair of these little things for ages and ages. There is really no reason for me to do them as I don't have any little ones around but they were made with a friends 5month old girl in mind. I tell you she needs them at the moment. This tropical paradise we live in is having a bit of a cold spell. Temperatures are plummeting to 22 degrees. Anyway back to the shoes. They are dead easy, not to fiddley. I only had one problem and that was with the elastic. I think I pulled it a bit to tight and they sort of pulled up at the sides( you can see I put a bit of cotton wool in them to plump them out abit so it wasn't so noticeable). I thought I would try another pair and see if I can rectify that but firstly I will try them on my little model Eloise tomorrow and see how they look.
The pattern comes from here if any of you are interested.

Simon says stand up if you have orange hair?
This week sees orange on the board. All I have to do now is get out there and find some.
Here is a good place to see lots of orange.

On my desk & Yellow all in one.........
Today is not what is on my desk but what has been on my desk this week. Just some dolls. Made for no other reason than the need to do stuff. One will be going off as a birthday gift for a 3 year old though. I have also been able to add a bit more yellow for this weeks colour. I was sitting waiting for something to load on the computer and look over at the bookshelf and their I spied some yellow covers.
