My creative space........

Today I'm spending my creative time finishing Sunny. One because she is on the January list and two because she is sick of being in the nude. I haven't done much sewing over the past couple of weeks but late yesterday I got inspired so out came all the stuff to finish. A little bit of hand sewing today and a fix up of the hair and she is done. After that I will find her a nice home.

Love Friday...........

It's early, it's overcast and rainy, I have been for my walk and I'm not sure what else is going to happen on this particular Friday. I think we may just take it as it comes. A little bit of this a little bit of that. The kids are happy wandering about the house making up stories involving all the mythical creatures, mermaids, pegasus, fairies, unicorns. If anything inspiring comes about here I will come back and share it with you but until then happy Friday to you all.

Rock........

This wee rock was found at the beach while still contemplating what to do with the quilt in my last post.
Is it a heart or a bear?

Weekend.........

It's hot here and I have been making a quilt. Crazy I know we should have been at the beach all weekend. We were for some of the time but the other half of it I got to finish Django's quilt top. This is the quilt that is on the January list and I so promised him that I would have it done. Today we have woken up to another gorgeous day but we are on a mission to get some nice light weight batting and find a backing fabric. Now the other thing that is playing around in my mind is do I hand quilt it or machine stitch it. I have never hand quilted anything and would like to try. All the quilts I have made so far have been machine quilted. Quick but not always easy. Maybe I need to ask myself the question 'does he want the quilt this January or next?' Maybe I need to go and sit at the beach and stare out at the beautiful blue water. The answer may come to me.

I'll be back!

Love Fridays...........

This week has been a bit up and down one. Sometimes feeling a bit cranky sometimes feeling very happy. Not quite sure what was going on but it was just one of those weeks. Today I got out of bed with a different outlook on the day. I needed to be less grumpy with the kids, smile a bit more and so on and it worked. We had a good day together. A bit of shopping in the morning, a lunch date with dad at their favourite restaurant, a swim in the afternoon. All went great. Then to top it all off Django had a plan hatched with his dad to go off after work for some secret boys business. He had it in his mind that he needed to buy me something to cheer me up, with his own pocket money no less, so they went to one of our favourite shops and bought me some new glasses. Special ones to put our very special bird swizzel sticks in. Boy did my heart melt when he walked in with his parcel. So this Friday did indeed end up lovely with a nice looking/tasteing drink.

Our creative space's........

The kids and I have our own little creative space's going on today. This makes for happy people and funnily enough they are both going on in the lounge room.

I'm working on embroidering the top piece of Django's quilt while sitting on the couch. He wanted his name across the top of it. I might even sneak on a movie to watch while doing said work.

And the two kids are creating creatures out of milk/juice containers on their table.

Happiness, happiness, happiness............................

Lucky days.........

I need to tell you all something. I have been picked by the random generator to be the lucky recipient of a giveaway. My new found blog Sweetcheese was having a giveaway, I entered and I won. This niceness tops of a fairly average day for me. I baked some scones earlier that didn't turn out quite right and I just served up soup for dinner that was fairly tasteless. This little surprise will allow me to think that today wasn't fully wasted.

Windy & rainy.......

I like to tell you we are doing some fabulously exciting things here but it's raining and windy and we are stuck inside. So the kids have been forced once again to make another mess on their table (which I will most likely have to tidy up) and I have been baking and cruising through blogland finding some new blogs to add to my google reader list.
Here they are if you feel inclined to browse-
-Sweetcheese

-Beru Betto

-Kitschen Pink

-Choccybangles

Anna Maria Horner-I have just listened to a podcast with this lady-it was very interesting.

A question........

A friend last night asked me what I got for Christmas. When I had finished rambling off the list he said to me " so everything you got is decorative". Up until that point I hadn't even thought about it but yes he was right. Everything I got bar one present was decorative. Let me tell you what they all were- my lovely Blythe, a tiki painting, my mum sent me the green fairy because she said it looked like a blythe, an embellished fan(also from my mum), a fancy tin(full of toffee) and a cactus pup. The non decorative thing was perfume. I was a very lucky girl at Christmas time to get so many lovely things that are not practical.
Is anybody else out there like me and love getting decorative gifts? Or do you like the practical ones?

And another thing.......

Sunny has been waiting for a fancy dress for a while now. She wants out of that calico number( I don't blame her).
This job is getting added onto the January list.

The wait is finally over.......

Yes the wait is well and truly over. I have been waiting for this girl for quite a few months and finally on Christmas day I got to see her in the flesh. Oh and what beautiful flesh she is. It is a long story about why I had to wait so long but suffice to say she had been sitting in Melbourne for a few months waiting for my husband to go and pick her up. I should stop calling her she and tell you she has been renamed Martine.

Martine arrived as the Heart of Montmartre in a beautiful dress with cape, hat and basket but we soon realised her attire was far to hot for this climate. So a little bit of research was done to find some dress patterns and voila today I whipped her up a new dress. We also tried a new hairdo.

This was all to much fun and I can feel the need to make her a whole lot more cute stuff.

January lists.........

I have been reading around blogland that not a lot of people make new years resolutions. They don't keep them just like myself so you won't be hearing any from this wee wife. Instead I have decided to make a list each month of some things I want to achieve. There maybe some sewing to finish, some extra exercise or trying some new recipes. I'm not really sure how this will go as I am not a great list maker either. I make them too long I think and never get to the end. Getting side tracked is something I do very well though. Also putting it out there for all to see is a good incentive for success.I will make a new different list at the beginning of each month and try and mix it up a bit so life is not too repetitive.
So here starts January's list( it isn't going to be too long it's school holidays)
- Finish a quilt I started Django many years ago. He has had a fascination with mermaids for a very long time and we found some great fabric at GJ's in Melbourne. I would like to complete it before his interest wanes. The quilt top is so close to being finished I am not sure what happened. I think it was moving countries!

-fitting in some extra walks. I only really do a couple a week I would like a couple more but this is tricky for January with kids at home and husband working. I either need to be up earlier or be organized to go as soon as he gets home from work.

- doing a bit more Gocco with the kids. They love it and so do I.

I figure there maybe some things added on as the month goes on and there maybe some things that never get completed but that's the way it goes. We must remember that these fun things need to fit in with the everyday stuff. So here's to January and all she brings.

If there is anybody who would like to join in I will make a list club or something.
