3 chicks...........

I made 3 wee chicks for the 3 other people living in my house. They are going to be given tomorrow morning with some nice chocolate eggs. I hope everybody is having a nice Easter break and that there is way too much chocolate being consumed. I'd like to think that it is not only happening in our house.

p.s The pattern for these adorable chicks was found at roman sock. She has sooooo many fabulous patterns that you can use and not too complicated either.

It's all about chocolate......

Today has gone by in a blur of chocolate. Tiny cakes and another big pot of rocky-road. These said items have been made for school xmas parties and big girls parties that there seem to be many of at the moment but this post has another purpose not just to show you my excellent ability to cook with chocolate . I had a couple of requests for the recipe for the rocky-road so I thought I would oblige. It is super easy and super tasty. My favourite!

What you will need is
- 125 g butter
- 300 g nice chocolate-broken into pieces -
-100 marshmallows-but I use more

- Maltesers

Here is what you do- Melt butter and chocolate over low heat. When melted stir in marshmallows and maltesers. Pop it into a pan and place in fridge till set. Cut into squares, eat and enjoy. You may find that the marshmallows melt a little when mixed into the warm chocolate but that just adds to the texture.

Now how easy is that one.
Let me know if anybody attempts to make it I would love to see and hear about your results.

Love Friday...........

I know what you are thinking "What the hell has she got in that pot it looks like dog food". Well today I am having a bit of a baking day and I'm trying something new. Rockyroad! I can't remember ever having made it before so I did the search and found a couple of recipes that sounded interesting. One is Nigella's. I followed it excactly up until the biscuits I substituted maltesers for the biscuits. I will let you know what it has turned out like later on this evening. The baking being done today has a purpose and that is that I'm holding a girls night tonight. It happens every now and then here when a husband is away. Well we use that as the excuse I think mostly we just like to get together. So leading up to having some bubbles and roackyroad tonight I will be finishing up tidying the house. There is always good and bad with these thing but only a few hours to go before we hear the pop of those corks.

I hope your all having a good Friday.

Scrumptious slice recipe.........

A few Wednesday ago I put up a post about a slice I make for any occasion because it is a absolute winner. Somebody did ask for the recipe so I thought I should at least put it up for Karin and anybody else who would like to try it.

Here goes- Hedgehog slice

250grams plain sweet biscuit
125g butter/margarine
125g sugar
2 level tbsp cocoa- I usually put in three depending how chocolatey I want it.
2 tbsp coconut
1 tsp vanilla
1 beaten egg
optional extras are 1 cup sultanas or 3/4 cup walnuts/pecans/almonds.

Crush biscuits leaving some lumps- add nuts/sultanas if going to
Combine butter/sugar/cocoa/coconut/vanilla in saucepan and cook for 2 minutes or till all ingredients are melted and mixed well
cool slightly( a minute or two) add egg, then add chocolate mixture to biscuits, mix well
Press into greased slice tin
Ice with chocolate icing and put in fridge till set.
Then cut into squares and consume at leisure or all at once.

There you have it a scrumptious, easy slice.

Happy 1st of spring to all.

Chickens......

We are trying to put together a wee easter scene here but it seems the chocolate egg laying chickens are doin' a bit of misbehavin'! They just don't want to stay put. We think they prefer roosting in the pot plants and not hanging around the lake with the rabbit. As long as they keep laying eggs we don't care where they go.

Days 10, 12, 14...........

Our advent gifts have all been a bit different this year. In the kids younger years I had just bought the chocolate filled calenders. This year my mum bought over a hanging fabric calender. As you can see by day 14 the pockets aren't very big. Big enough for two chocolates though not much else but we have got around that. Big arrows and safety pins go a long way.

Day 12 was a beautiful peacock but unfortunately he has lost an eye.

Day 10 was a lovely pink sparkling bird she is up there at the top of the tree with our lovely sparkling butterfly.

Lets see what the next 10 days bring.
