Love Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.....

Yate- Gite IYA

So I wanted to post about my Friday on Friday because it ended up being such a nice one. You know the one that starts off crazy but ends up nice and relaxing and usually something odd happening. That was the kind I had to tell you all about but as usual a whole lot of other things seem to get in the way of me and the computer. Firstly the arrival of yet more people. My husband offered up our place as accommodation for some work colleagues. So you know how it goes. Cooking, cleaning, entertaining and the entertaining this weekend was camping. We headed off to a favoured little spot. It's a wee little beach on the east coast of New Caledonia. It is secluded and full of rockpools for the kids enjoyment. After me complaining about having to go it ended up being a lovely, relaxing weekend. So all in all I had a lovely Friday, a scenic Saturday and a not to busy Sunday. A well balanced weekend!

P.S The above photo is one from another trip. The skies were much bluer and less cloudy this trip.

On my desk.........

This week sees me trying to get fabric together for a quilt someone has asked me to make. The theme is pacific islands as she lives here in Noumea and it is to be sent to her new nephew in France. In the few fabric stores here there is a fabulous array of flowery fabrics but not alot of co-ordinates so it took a bit of searching to try and find a good palette of colours. I have decided blues and oranges as the colour theme. Good for boys, nice and bright. It is going to have a bit of embroidery and a bit of embellishment and most likely a bit of everything because lets face it when the mind is left to create anything can happen.

Now it's time to go off and create!
Not promising too much but maybe I will have some to show next week.

Normality........

I'm back again! My life is back to some sort of normality. Relatives have gone home, husband is back from a stint in Papua New Guinea and I am sitting here with my first cup of tea for the day trying to make some connection back with my blog. For me the longer I leave it between posts the harder it is to get back to it but I have things to do in the next couple of weeks that will encourage me to tell you about. I have a zine swap, a quilt to create, a couple of bags to make and some new dolls to finish. Phew what a list! So with no further ado I should go off and start but before that can happen I still have upteen loads of washing to be done.
Isn't it always the way!!!

Break in transmission......

A wee break in transmission here in Noumea. Our visitors need looking after which doesn't leave much time left for anything else.

but I did find some spare time this afternoon to have a play around with picnik. What fun!

Friday........

Gotta love Fridays.......kids are cranky from a week of school, everything I do is for them is not right and I have found that they are doing there maths homework on the table instead of on paper. So I think my day is going to be full of placating teary kids. I also perhaps should get the guest studio ready for my mum as she is arriving tomorrow. Not very interesting I know but very character building for everybody involved.

Happy Friday to all.

On my desk.........

Today is not about what is on my sewing desk because there isn't anything there of any great interest. It is about the other desk I seem to spend some time at and that is the kitchen bench. Hedgehog slice was made this morning for an afternoon catch-up with friends. It is always a winner with the kids and the grown-ups too!

P.S If anybody doesn't know hedgehog slice and would like the recipe to this lovely chocolatey slice please let me know. It's as easy as anything.

My green owl and the auction........

Over at Mikes the 2nd round of auctions are up for the Mirabel foundations fund raiser. My spotty green owl is up in this one. How awesome! I didn't expect it to be. Anyway go over to here to bid on something that you may like and help out a very worthy cause. I am going to go and see if I can win that stripy legged bunny from Loobylu.

Impromtu celebrations........

It is my birthday coming up and this year as last year my better half will be away for it. So today he and the kids got together baked a cake and we had early celebrations. I even got some pressie but I will keep them for another day. I wanted to show all the delicious and fabulously decorated cake they made me. It was chocolatey and the strawberries were plump and red and all together with the ice-cream it was superb. There was no holding back as soon as the candles were out the plates were put forward.

It truly was delicious and there wasn't much cake left after that sitting!

Goodreads........

I was asked by Nichola to join up over at Goodreads. The idea of it is to share info about books and what you thought. Good, bad or otherwise. I have become a bit addicted and can't hold myself back from putting up all the books I have read or want to read. The bookshelf sits right next to the computer desk and all those books are staring down at me. I think in the last 18 months I have done the most reading I have done ever. The reasons being is that I have a whole lot more time on my hands since moving here to Noumea. The combination of not having to work and the kids being at school gives me this spare reading time. I like that I can do this but I sometimes get the guilts up about it. Anyway if anybody is interested in being my friend on Goodreads let me know as at this stage I only have 2 and I have a whole lotta books to tell you about!

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
Raunchy rather hopeless PI. Set in and around Melbourne and I could visualise the places she was as I was reading. It was good fun!

Friday........

Love fridays is something new that has started over here. If you track back through her lovely blog you will see her post all about it. There are a few other players and I am going to tag along. I can't promise every week there will be something to write about but just maybe.

So this Friday has started already with my morning french lesson and then back home for a nice cup of tea and a spot of blogging. The class begins at 8am just after school drop off. This Friday is alot different to last weeks(school holidays). It's the day were we get up and go go go. The other days of the week it is alot less stressful. The rest of the day hopefully holds a wee bit of doll crafting. I did have other plans like a lunch date but that sadly has been canceled although a couple of us are still going to catch up for afternoon tea. The weather has turned back to it's normal beautiful blue skies-we have had some crap rain and wind this last week-so I am going now to enjoy it and get some washing in and out. Not overly exciting I know but it is what it is.

Happy Friday to you!
